In this large-scale exhibition, I am exhibiting a broad range of subject matter and moods, illuminated by the endless possibilities of light. My long history of plein air painting has sensitized me to the delicate nuances of nature and the constant dance of moving clouds, shadows and sunshine. I have always been inspired by travel — this show will include paintings from my travels to Ireland, Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and all over America. I have a deep respect for artists who tackle the challenges of depicting strong sunlight, like the great Spanish artist Joaquim Sorolla, the 19th Century American Luminist painters, and the living artist John Asaro. Following in their footsteps, I am also “chasing light.”
